Early Childhood Newsletter - January 31st, 2022

Estimadas familias de PCS,

It is hard to believe that January is over and the month of February is here!  With the month of February comes the celebration of Black History month.

“Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere” ~ Martin Luther King.

“Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it” ~ George Santayana.

At PCS, we are committed to the work to continually bring not only this history to the forefront but also to ensure that all of our students see themselves within our curriculum and community.  Our work with equity, diversity, and inclusion is continual. With that, February's Black History Month does offer the opportunity to shine a light on some of the stories, voices, and accomplishments that belong in our classrooms and curriculum.

Be sure to check out Mrs. Ramsey’s latest updates from the Library about the great line-up of February Choice Board and We Stories information sheet.  These are great resources to explore at home.

Kids Heart Challenge:

During the month of February our PE department will be holding its annual Kids Heart Challenge (previously known as Jump Rope 4 Heart) for grades K-5. The event will take place during PE class. Students will work on jump rope skills while learning more about how to keep their hearts healthy all while helping others in the community by raising donations that will go to the American Heart Association. Please have students turn in donations to their PE teachers.

Upcoming Dates:

  • February 17 - Earthquake Drill

  • February 18 - No School - Professional Development Day

  • February 21 - No School - Presidents Day

Have a great week! Please reach out if you need anything.

Amablemente,

Jodi and Mary
