Middle School Newsletter 8.28.2023

Queridas familias de PCS,

Welcome to the 2023-24 school year! I hope this message finds you well and excited for the opportunities that the upcoming year holds for our students and our school community. It is my pleasure to extend a warm welcome to both returning and new students and their families. The PCS community is a place where we strive for academic excellence, personal growth, and a sense of belonging, and I am excited to share our plans and aspirations for the upcoming year.

A Year of Possibilities: The start of a new school year brings with it a world of possibilities. This year, we are committed to nurturing a vibrant and inclusive learning environment that fosters curiosity, creativity, and critical thinking. Our dedicated team of educators is excited to guide and support our students on their educational journey, helping them discover their strengths and interests.

Parent-Teacher Partnership: The success of our students is a collaborative effort. I strongly encourage parents and guardians to maintain open lines of communication with teachers and school administration. Regular parent-teacher meetings and updates will help us work together to support each student's growth.

Stay Connected: To stay up-to-date with school news, events, and important announcements, please make sure to follow our official social media accounts and regularly check the school website.

As we embark on this exciting new chapter together, let us remember that every member of the PCS family plays a vital role in shaping the future. I am looking forward to a year filled with growth, learning, and memorable experiences.  I am confident that together we will make this a remarkable year!

Wishing you all a fantastic school year ahead!

Amablemente,

Kim

STAFF SPOTLIGHT:

Over the next few weeks I will be highlighting our amazing teachers so that you can get to know our entire MS team a little better.

MS ASSISTANT PRINCIPAL…

Dear Middle School Families,

I would like to take this opportunity to extend you all a warm welcome back to school.  My name is Erin Russell, and I am elated to start the 2023-2024 school year as your Middle School Assistant Principal.

I began teaching at PCS in 2016 as an ELA teacher for 8th and 6th grades.  I earned my Bachelor’s in English Language Arts from Eastern Illinois University with a minor in Middle Level Education.  I soon discovered my passion for social-emotional learning in relation to how it supports academic achievement and later earned my Master’s of School Counseling at the University of Missouri-St. Louis. For the past three years I have served as middle school counselor, and I am looking forward to utilizing my experience to support the students, families, and staff at PCS.  Outside of school, you can find me trying out a new recipe or tackling a DIY house project with my husband, our one-year-old daughter, and our two dogs.

As the Middle School Assistant Principal, I am here to listen, collaborate, and support the needs of our students and their families. I believe that open communication and teamwork between school and home are essential for a successful educational journey.  Together, we can continue to build a positive and enriching environment where students can develop the skills, knowledge, and character they need to thrive in today's world.

Warmest regards,

Erin Russell
