Middle School Newsletter 4.3.2023
As we begin our final stretch of the year I would like to take this opportunity to thank you. Thank you for your partnership and trust. The rat race of life can be exhausting at times.
We can easily get caught up in the day to day tasks that we miss so many beautiful moments.
I have made a conscious effort to truly appreciate the little things in life. Little things like yesterday’s beautiful weather, a friendly smile from a stranger, a hug from a loved one, and kids playing and laughing. When you don’t have any choice but to slow down your eyes are opened to the things that you often take for granted. I may still get exhausted from time to time but I am also incredibly grateful and hopeful. As I look out my window the sun is shining, flowers are blooming and there are kids playing outside. My hope moving forward is that I continue to cherish the little things as I now understand the little things are what really matter.
Once again, thank you for partnering with us this year. There is absolutely no way we could do this without your support. As always please don’t hesitate to reach out if there's anything you need.
Amablemente,
Kim

From Our Counselors:
Dear PCS Middle School Families,
April is Child Abuse & Neglect Prevention Month. In an effort to educate students on warning signs and identify preventative steps for students to take, middle school counselors are speaking in homebase classrooms during the month of April. Students are discussing the five warning signs.
Safety Rule #1 is Know What’s Up. Knowing What’s Up means you are aware of what abuse is. It also means knowing important safety procedures when you are at school, out in public, and at home.
Safety Rule #2 is Spot Red Flags. Spotting Red Flags means knowing if someone’s behavior or a situation is unsafe or inappropriate. For example, is someone asking you to do something that may put you or others in danger? Or is someone asking you to do something that breaks rules or laws and is bad or unsafe?
Safety Rule #3 is Make a Move. Making a Move means getting away or staying away from unsafe situations or people.
Safety Rule #4 is Talk It Up. Talking It Up means using an assertive voice if you or others are in an unsafe situation. It can also mean talking to a Safe Adult about unsafe situations or people, and talking to your peers to be a role model for creating a culture of kindness and safety. For information on how you can talk with your child, please see: Tips for Talking to Children about Child Abuse or visit stopitnow.org for more information.

Parents and Guardians:
I realize that we ask for your opinion often, and your responses are always welcomed and appreciated. Please take a few minutes in the next day or two to answer this survey regarding your child(ren)'s eating habits at school and about the food service at Premier Charter School in general. Thank you for your time, and if you have any specific questions or comments that aren't addressed in this survey, please contact Mr. Doyle (kdoyle@premiercharterschool.org)
From the library:
Thank you for supporting our Spring Book Fair! We surpassed our $300. goal to purchase books for our sister library in Lusaka, Zambia and had one of our most profitable book fairs to date. All proceeds go toward books for our library, classroom libraries, and students, as well as library furnishings and reading incentives!
Students who took the Spring Break Reading Challenge should turn them in (with an adult's signature, their name and their teacher's name) by Friday! Missed the challenge? Look out for an April reading challenge coming soon!
